What a week!

So I went on a trip by myself, without spouse and children! I left for 4 days to go to TX to see my little brother graduate from the Air Force. I really enjoyed seeing how much he seemed to have matured in just 6 short weeks. We spent the weekend going to ceremonies and eating, because he didn't eat a lot during training so he was always hungry. He is now In Mississippi for 17 + weeks for Tech school, and then who knows where.

The boys survived without me, which was no surprise but Brian got very little work done so I haven't seen him much since I have been home. I missed all my boys, but it was a great opportunity to be away and recharge my Mom battery, not to mention that it was my first trip alone, ever!

Tuesday meant a long anticipated Dr. apt for Asher. At his 2 year check up the pediatrician detected a heart murmur and instead of waiting a year to check it again, he referred us to a pediatric Cardiologist in Kalamazoo. So we have had the apt. since the end of July and I really tried hard not to think about it. Everyone kept telling me how common murmurs are, they had one, their kids have one.. So the day comes and we are heading to the apt. and I can't stop thinking about what if? Every scenario goes through my mind.. I just can't imagine anything happening to my blonde haired baby.. We get to the parking garage and I stop to let someone back out ahead of me and while I am stopped waiting a lady backs her minivan into the back of our car. She only hit the bumper, but hard enough to trash it. Asher was in the back seat and on that side.. Let me tell you how lucky that lady was that she didn't get any closer to him!! She proceeded to get angry and try to blame me for being stopped. "Why were you stopped?" Uh, it's a parking garage! "I didn't even see you, it's so dark in here." Uh, maybe looking over your shoulder you would have seen almost the whole length of our car behind you. Brian is calling the insurance company and she keeps running her mouth about how I stopped to far away from the parking spot. She had a little kid in the car with her, in the front seat! I would guess the kids to be about 4, she didn't waste anytime getting him out of the car. Long story shorter, I parked and started to head in to the hospital and Brian caught up. I guess she became more apologetic but seriously..

The Dr. apt went better than expected. Asher has a "Innocent Hear Murmur" that he will grow out of and it will not cause him any problems and shouldn't be any concern. What a relief! I didn't realize how stressed out I was about it until we got the good news and then I lost it a bit. I really can't imagine what parents go through that have kids with serious illnesses. We are so fortunate that our family is healthy and intact. I am so grateful for our family and couldn't imagine not having my boys. I guess what I am trying to say is that I really know I am a parent now!

Enjoy a few pictures.

I'm glad everything is okay with Asher.
